Mysteries, legends, stories...
During the years, the most important building in the People's Republic of Poland evoked many legends, as all the objects accessible only to a few.
As the story had it, some secret underground corridors used to lead to the Palace of Culture and Science or to a secret railway station, which in emergency case could be used by the dignitaries needing to escape to Moscow. Reportedly, the floor heating system was made of the barrels taken from the tanks left by the German army fleeing from Warsaw and consisting of the legendary "Tigers". And the worker team redecorating the offices previously owned by the party members tell stories of suspicious openings and channels found in the walls, which were surely used for tapping devices.
To what extent these stories are true? The time inexorably removes more and more traces. Witnesses of that era are passing away and the remaining ones are increasingly harder to be reached. Therefore, if you have any photographs and other remnants related to the history of the former KC PZPR headquarter, if you know any facts which, in your opinion, might shed light on some interesting aspect of this place's history - please contact us.
